You cross the Cleveland Hills on moorland paths with views back across the vale and forward toward the sea. Heather, grouse moor, and wind exposure return after the flat interlude.

Osmotherley is a pretty village on the edge of the moors with pubs and guesthouses. Last substantial stop before the long stage across the highest moors.
