One of the longest stages crosses the heart of the North York Moors before dropping to Grosmont in the Esk valley. Heather moor, forest tracks, and a long descent reward patience on a full day.

Grosmont is a railway village on the North York Moors line with a pub and steam trains. A characterful stop one day from the North Sea finish.
