You climb from Grasmere toward Grisedale Hause and drop to Ullswater at Patterdale. Rocky paths, lake views, and exposed cols make this a quintessential Lake District stage regardless of distance.

Patterdale is a small village at the head of Ullswater with a pub and limited beds. Book ahead in summer - the valley fills with walkers on fine weekends.
