Stage 5

The longest day in the Lake District section crosses Kidsty Pike and the high ground above Haweswater before dropping to Shap. Remote paths, big climbs, and few escape routes make this a serious stage in poor weather.

Shap is a village on the edge of the fells with an abbey ruin and a pub. A good place to recover before the long march across the Pennines tomorrow.
